Paulus Verweij, is a painter from the Utrecht school in the Netherlands. Like Jan van Scorel, Gerard Honthorst and in this time, Johannes Moesman and Pyke Koch. All these artist work in detail with specific lightning. Paulus Verweij was born in 1951 in the town of Utrecht (the fourth biggest City in Holland) There he studied at the
Technical School for Graphics, the famous Dutch painter Carel Willink (Magic Realism) did stimulate him to study at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy of fine Arts in Amsterdam, where he followed lessons in portraitpainting (Herman Gordijn), and Italian-renaissance techniques. He made studytrips tot Italy (Firenze and Roma) and France (Paris). Paulus had shows all over the country of
Holland, coming winter a showing at VanderGun Gallery Brentwood California USA. His paintings are in the most important National- and International collections. "These paintings are my diary's, synchronicity is important, everything seems to come to place. The old cultures of the Egyptians, the Mayans give away their secrets. Many of my questions are answered through my
paintings."
